JOB PURPOSE

To safely and effectively monitor, operate and maintain leachate management systems to optimise the collection, treatment and disposal of leachate to maintain regulatory compliance and to minimise the financial burden.

3. PARAMETERS

 Key role within the Landfill Energy Deparment with responsibility to safely and effectively monitor, operate and maintain leachate management systems across the South East region to ensure that the Principal Responsibilties are met. This shall include the monitoring, operation and maintenance of leachate extraction, storage, treatment, transfer and disposal systems.

 Liaise directly with site management in delivering site environmental and Health & Safety compliance, ensuring that the operation of leachate management systems is optimised at all times.

 To deliver best practice and value for money whilst maximising throughput with regards leachate management across your allotted portfolio.
 This role requires a flexible approach to ensure vital tasks are achieved in a timely and precise manner. The role will require working at weekends, nights and bank holidays.
4. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 To safely and effectively monitor, operate and maintain leachate management systems across the South East region such that regulatory compliance requirements are fulfilled (including requirements set out in Environmental Permits and Trade Effluent Discharge Consents), and the financial burden minimised. This shall include the monitoring, operation and maintenance of leachate extraction, storage, treatment, transfer and disposal systems.

 To carry out monitoring, analysis, record keeping and reporting (as necessary) on the status of leachate management systems and associated equipment such that process control and BioMass health is optimised and regulatory requirements discharged.

 To be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of all plant, equipment and tools used in monitoring, operation and maintenance of leachate management systems in line with routine and planned preventative maintenance schedules.

 To adhere to operational standards, processes and procedures for the management of leachate at the Company's operational and closed landfill sites in the region.

 Supervise and control internal and external personnel (including contractors and agency staff) working on leachate management systems.
 To keep up to date with the technical developments associated with the scope of the role and the legal and environmental obligations at the designated site.
 Regularly review developments within the waste and water sector to ensure additional leachate generation is minimised at your allotted sites.
 To develop close working relationships with colleagues in the Technical Support (particularly Leachate Managers), and Power Generation teams to ensure that leachate management costs and environmental risks are minimised, and that LFG volumes are optimised at all times, and that the Landfill Energy Business operates as a cohesive team.

 To participate in a call out rota to provide cover for work that is required at the weekends, and outside of normal working hours.
