Job description:
Our client based in Soutwold a beautiful seaside town are currently looking for a Commis Chef to join there team of highly skilled chefs.

Job Duties -

* To prepare and present food as per the hygiene and presentation specifications set out by the Head Chef.
* Assist all chefs in the preparation and service of food in a daily basis to a high standard to ensure customer satisfaction.
* Gain knowledge and experience using all avenues made available by the company training scheme.
* Be aware of the daily functions menus and restaurant covers to ensure presentation of food and mise-en-plas is to the highest standard.


* Assist and carry out stock rotation to prevent food wastage and ensure the freshest ingredients are constantly available.
* Understand the importance of stock rotation. Observe sale items of food to prevent poor quality ingredients being used or utilising these ingredients elsewhere.
* Ensure fridge temperatures are documented on a daily basis.
* Input ideas for menu planning on a daily basis to help ensure a varying menu, avoiding repetition of products.
* Work in liaison with the Chef de Partie on all aspects thereby advancing your training/knowledge of all areas of the kitchen.


* Under supervision of Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef ensure the occasional smooth running of a section.
* Assist in effectively operating the department in times of shortage or increased pressures.
* By following instructions and using learnt culinary and organisational skills, liaising with Supervisors to obtain a full knowledge of the tasks and responsibilities required.


* Cleaning the section and its equipment on a daily and weekly basis to ensure a hygienic and safe working environment.
* By adhering to cleaning rotas and using the correct chemicals, methods and equipment.
* Liaising with kitchen porters and through observation report and act upon any potential health and hygiene hazards.


* Checking in food deliveries to ensure kitchen receives items of correct quality and quantity.
* Taking time and effort to double check orders and inspect goods carefully and signing documentation to prove receipt.


* Comply with health and safety at work and health and hygiene legislation at all times. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of operational standards, processes and systems.


* Any other task within skill set as required by manager.
Salary: 18420 per annum
